Community Circle

Where Listening Creates Change

About the Program

A Space to Connect, Reflect, and Rebuild

Community Circles bring people together in a structured, respectful format that values every voice. Rooted in Indigenous circle practices and restorative approaches, we facilitate shared spaces where community members support one another, build trust, and strengthen collective care through open conversation and mutual understanding.

What Is a Community Circle?

A Community Circle is a guided gathering that creates a safe and equal space for people to speak, listen, and connect. Unlike traditional meetings, circles remove hierarchy β€” every person has an equal opportunity to share. Guided by a trained facilitator, participants use a talking piece to take turns speaking while others listen without interruption. The result is deeper understanding, strengthened relationships, and community action rooted in shared values.

Why Community Circles Matter

Many communities face challenges that cannot be solved by one individual or institution alone. Isolation, conflict, grief, and disconnection affect wellbeing in ways that formal services often miss. Community Circles create conditions for healing and collaboration by honouring relationships, acknowledging shared experiences, and building pathways toward collective solutions. They are particularly powerful for communities navigating intergenerational trauma, reconciliation, or transitions.

What Happens in a Circle

1

A trained facilitator opens the circle with a welcome and grounding intention

2

A talking piece is introduced β€” participants speak when holding it, others listen

3

A guiding question is shared to focus reflection and dialogue

4

Each participant takes a turn to share at their own pace β€” no one is required to speak

5

The circle closes with shared reflection and, where appropriate, community commitments
